When it comes to the backlinks type mainly there are two types of backlinks:

  1. Do-follow
  2. No-follow

A common reader on the website cannot differentiate if a link is do-follow or no-follow. The difference is in the source code. A specific tag in the code determines that how search engines view the backlink and also determines the effect of that backlink on your SEO profile.

  • Do-follow Backlinks

Do-follow backlinks are the most valuable type of backlinks in SEO. If a website put a do-follow link on it’s website, it means it tells Google that the link is organic and the website getting the link juice is not purchasing the link and you are vouching the accuracy of that content of website at the end of link.

  • No-follow Backlinks

No-follow backlinks are less valuable and less common. It tells the search engines that the link is not much important and ignore this. The link looks similar to the do-follow link the the difference is “rel=nofollow” tag.

Example:

No follow backlink

The quantity or percentage of both links (Do-follow & No-follow) a website has can vary. The search engines want blender of both for a healthy link profile. Google prefers do-follow link and give them more value as compare to no-follow backlinks. And often ignored by Google’s algorithm in most cases.

When Google was launched in 1998, it used a revolutionary algorithm for ranking web pages. Those were based on link popularity. Simply means that a website page ranks higher places if it has more quality links to it. And this is the main reason behind the dominance of Google on other search engines that it realize the importance of backlinks.

PageRank”  the algorithm, after Larry Page don’t just consider the number of links given to a website page but also measure the authority of the link from where it’s coming. So we can conclude that all the backlinks are not equal.

Let’s understand this with an example.

A web page of your website has a backlink from two pages on different external domains. The 1st page has 100 backlinks and the other has 10. If both pages discuss the same topic, the 1st page will likely to rank higher than the 2nd page. The reason behind this that 1st page is more authoritative more links.

In terms of previously discussed two links on your website. The link from 1st page will be more valuable than the 2nd. Because it has high authority.

So the algorithm PageRank assign the authority to every website page based on their quality and the quantity of the links coming to the website.

Once you are done creating your website, publishing content on site and done with the on page optimization of the website next step is to build quality backlinks to your website from most valuable websites that can improve your website’s ranking in the search engines.

But unfortunately, getting quality backlinks from the high authority websites is the most difficult and time taking process in search engine optimization. Because, to get a backlink you have to convince the other website’s administration that they can improve a page on their website by linking back to the page on your website. Experts doesn’t recommend to email the website’s administration and asking for a link. Instead there are other more professional ways to get link to your site.

After the completion of your website next process is to acquire quality backlinks. It’s the most difficult practice in SEO. Basically, there are mainly two ways to create backlinks.

  • If someone else from another website found your content valuable and decides to link you.
  • You put your content in front of the person from other website and if they like your content they will link to you.

After creating your website, the next process is to build an online presence. Here are some steps:

  1. Create your online business.
  2. Social media profiles creation on all the social media platforms.
  3. Initial link building after your business’s online presence between social profiles.
  4. Creating citations of business by putting name, address, phone number & website address into citation’s website such as yellow pages & other directories.
  5. Social signals from social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc.
  6. Links as per linking velocity from PBN (Private Blog Network).
  7. The ongoing cycle in which you build links from high to low velocity linking sites. And keep this until your business gets higher ranking in the search engine.
